Aluminum nitride (AlN) disc is electrically insulating and have excellent thermal conductivity, making them ideal for applications that require heat dissipation. IGBTs are widely used as switching devices in inverter circuits (for DC to AC conversion) to drive small to large motors. IGBTs for inverters are used in home appliances such as air conditioners and refrigerators, industrial motors, and automobile main motor controllers to improve efficiency. Due to the high-power output, the heat dissipation requirements are very high, and aluminum nitride disks are suitable for this application as an ultra-high thermal conductivity material.

The process of making semiconductors involves a harsh environment that creates plasma. Therefore, aluminum nitride ceramics with excellent plasma resistance are more suitable for semiconductor manufacturing. Additionally, in semiconductor manufacturing, a combination of volatile precursor gases, plasma, and high temperatures are used to deposit high-quality thin films on wafers. Deposition chambers and wafer handling tools require durable ceramic components to withstand these challenging environments, so aluminum nitride ceramic trough plates are suitable for the semiconductor industry.
