Zirconia Ceramics (ZrO2)
Zirconia ceramics, also known as zirconia (ZrO2) ceramics, is a new type of high-tech ceramics with the highest room temperature toughness and strength among all advanced ceramic materials. It also has excellent thermal insulation and low thermal conductivity.
Zirconia ceramics have a high melting point and boiling point, high hardness, insulator at room temperature, electrical conductivity at high temperature, and the following excellent properties.
– High thermal expansion (α = 11 x 10-6 / K)
– Excellent thermal insulation/low thermal conductivity (2.5 to 3 W mK)
– Very high resistance to crack growth, high fracture toughness
– Capable of conducting oxygen ions (for measuring oxygen bias in lambda probes)
Pure ZrO2 products tend to undergo phase transitions during production (cooling process from high temperature to room temperature), and cracks or even cracks will occur with volume changes. However, adding appropriate stabilizers (such as Y2O3, MgO2, CaO, CeO2, etc.) can reduce the phase transition temperature, and the high-temperature stable c-ZrO2 and t-ZrO2 phases can also be stable or metastable at room temperature. When enough stabilizers are added, the high-temperature stable c-ZrO2 can remain at room temperature without phase transition. Therefore, conventional zirconia ceramics are zirconia ceramics with different stabilizers added, rather than pure zirconia products. Adding different contents and types of stabilizers can make zirconia ceramics be used in different fields.
-Structural ceramic parts, such as dispersion and grinding media, nozzles, ball valve ball seats, molds, micro fan shafts, fiber optic ferrules, fiber optic sleeves, knives, watch cases and straps, ball bearings and other normal temperature wear-resistant to zero equipment
– Functional ceramic parts, induction heating tubes, refractories, heating elements
-Zirconia ceramics have sensitive electrical parameters and are mainly used in oxygen sensors, solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC), high-temperature heating elements, and other fields.
-ZrO2 has a high refractive index (N-21^22). Adding certain coloring elements (V2O5, MoO3, Fe2O3, etc.)
-In addition, zirconia is widely used in thermal barrier coatings, catalyst supports, medical treatment, health care, refractory materials, textiles, and other fields.
