Edgetech Industries LLC offers molybdenum crucibles in a variety of sizes and shapes that can be customized according to drawings. The raw material is molybdenum powder.

In addition to pure molybdenum crucibles, we can also customize Mo-La alloy (molybdenum-doped lanthanum oxide). Mo-La alloy crucibles can withstand higher temperatures (~200°C+) than pure molybdenum crucibles.

Molybdenum crucible types:

Our company can produce various molybdenum crucibles, such as round crucibles, conical crucibles, oval crucibles, bottomless crucibles, rectangular crucibles, and square crucibles. Crucibles with holes, threaded holes, etc. can be produced according to drawings.

-Pressed and sintering crucibles

The powder is pressed and sintered into its final shape. They are one of the most popular types of crucibles. Used to make larger crucibles

-Milling crucible

Material blanks are processed into final products. This type of molybdenum crucible is also very popular. Used to make smaller crucibles.

-Welding crucible

For larger crucibles with thinner walls, we recommend welding molybdenum crucibles.

-Spin-forming crucible

Large molybdenum blanks are formed into specified product geometries by thermal spinning.

Applications of molybdenum crucible:

Molybdenum crucibles are more commonly used in crystallized materials and other emerging high-tech industries.

The working temperature environment of the molybdenum crucible is generally 1100-2000℃. Molybdenum crucibles are widely used in industrial furnaces such as sapphire single crystal growth furnaces, quartz glass smelting furnaces, and rare earth smelting furnaces. Molybdenum crucibles are highly corrosion-resistant to most acids and many molten materials such as glass or metals, making them ideal for the metallurgical, mechanical, and rare earth smelting industries. They can withstand vacuum thermal evaporation, nuclear fuel sintering, and capacitor sintering.

Edgetech offers custom molybdenum crucibles with the shortest delivery times and best prices. They can be manufactured in sets with lids. Covers are not always necessary. We can provide custom molybdenum crucible lids.

Molybdenum Crucible: Characteristics and Usage Precautions

Characteristics:

  1. High Melting Point – Molybdenum has a melting point of 2,623°C, making it suitable for high-temperature applications.

  2. Excellent Thermal Conductivity – Ensures efficient heat transfer in furnace environments.

  3. Good Corrosion Resistance – Resists attack from certain molten metals and salts.

  4. High Strength at Elevated Temperatures – Maintains structural integrity under extreme heat.

  5. Low Thermal Expansion – Reduces the risk of cracking during rapid temperature changes.

  6. Chemical Stability – Resists reactions with many metals and non-metallic materials.

Usage Precautions:

  1. Avoid Oxidation – Molybdenum oxidizes above 400°C in air. Always use in inert (Argon, Nitrogen) or reducing (Hydrogen) atmospheres or under vacuum.

  2. Prevent Thermal Shock – Heat and cool gradually to avoid cracking.

  3. Do Not Use with Oxidizing Materials – Avoid contact with oxides, nitrates, or other oxidizing agents.

  4. Handle with Care – Molybdenum is brittle at room temperature; avoid mechanical impacts.

  5. Clean Properly – Remove residues (e.g., oxides or contaminants) with appropriate solvents or mechanical methods.

  6. Storage – Keep in a dry environment to prevent surface oxidation.

Typical Applications:

  • Crystal Growth (e.g., sapphire, rare-earth single crystals)

  • High-Temperature Melting & Sintering (metals, ceramics)

  • Vacuum Evaporation Coating

  • Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) Processes

By following these guidelines, the lifespan and performance of a molybdenum crucible can be maximized.
