Silicon is a chemical element with the symbol Si and atomic number 14.

Silicon is a hard and brittle crystalline solid with a blue-gray metallic luster, a tetravalent metalloid and a semiconductor. It is a member of group 14 on the periodic table: carbon is above it; germanium, tin, lead, and praseodymium are below it. It is relatively inactive.
At standard temperature and pressure, silicon is a shiny semiconductor with a blue-gray metallic luster; as a typical semiconductor, its resistivity decreases with increasing temperature.
Elemental silicon is added to molten cast iron in the form of ferrosilicon or calcium-silicon alloys to improve the properties of cast thin sections and to prevent cementite from forming when exposed to the outside air.
Silicon is a special and important semiconductor element with typical properties of metals and nonmetals.
Edgetech Industries LLC supplies silicon powder (metal powder) widely used in semiconductor technology, computer microchips, transistors, and solar cells. Silica fume is also used to make other silicon compounds. Our silicon powder is produced using the smallest-sized particles, with mesh sizes ranging from 100 mesh to 325 mesh. Other size ranges can be customized. We also offer silicon sputtering targets.
