Tantalum can be used to make welded tantalum pipes/tubes and seamless tantalum pipes/tubes for a wide range of uses. Seamless tantalum tubes/pipes are manufactured by extrusion, shrink tube or deep drawing of sheet metal. Welded tantalum pipes are manufactured by first forming strips, then making them into tubular shapes, and then welding the joints using gas tungsten arc welding.

In general, tantalum has excellent corrosion resistance and is commonly used in chemical processing equipment. To enhance the performance of the metal, we recommend using our seamless tantalum 2.5% tungsten tube.

Tantalum tubes are known for their excellent corrosion resistance and high temperature stability. They are primarily used in the manufacture of chemical process reaction vessels, heat exchangers, pipes, condensers and bayonet heaters. Tantalum tubes are manufactured to ASTM B521 and ASTM F560 standards. Tantalum tubes are used in harsh chemical environments as well as in medical implants and radiation shielding. The customizability of tantalum tubes allows them to be customized for specific applications in science and industry.

  • Seamless Tantalum Tube

Seamless pipe shall be manufactured by any seamless method capable of producing a product that meets the requirements of this specification. For those looking for tantalum pipe with thicker walls, we recommend seamless tantalum pipe.

  • Welded tantalum tubes

Welded pipes shall be made from flat-rolled products using automatic or semi-automatic fusion welding processes without adding filler metal.

For those who are looking for thinner wall tantalum pipe, we recommend welded tantalum pipe. Welded pipes are made of tantalum plates. Their surface quality is good because they are polished after welding.

R05200, unalloyed tantalum, electron-beam furnace or vacuum-arc melt, or both
R05400, unalloyed tantalum, powder-metallurgy consolidation.
R05255, tantalum alloy, 90 % tantalum, 10 % tungsten, electron-beam furnace of vacuum-arc melt, or both.
R05252, tantalum alloy, 97.5 % tantalum, 2.5 % tungsten, electron-beam furnace or vacuum-arc melt, or both.
R05240, tantalum alloy, 60 % tantalum, 40 % niobium, electron-beam furnace or vacuum-arc melt.

Pure Tantalum Grades
We guarantee a purity of 99.95% for sintered premium tantalum (metal purity without niobium), including fused tantalum (R05200) and sintered tantalum (R05400). Our sintered tantalum is used in those tough situations: Thanks to our powder metallurgy production process, the grain size of sintered tantalum is particularly fine. The material is therefore very easy to process and performs well due to its excellent surface quality and strong mechanical properties. Molten tantalum is generally more economical to produce than sintered tantalum and can provide sufficient quality for many applications. However, this material is not as fine or uniform as R05400 Tantalum. They all excel in different areas.

Pure sintered tantalum and pure fused tantalum share the following characteristics:

-High melting point 2996°C

-Good cold ductility

– Recrystallization between 800 °C and 1200 °C (depending on degree of deformation and purity)

-Excellent resistance to aqueous solutions and metal melts

-Superconducting

-High level of biocompatibility

-Chemical equipment: Tantalum pipes are often used in chemical equipment, especially main heat transfer equipment. This is because they are resistant to corrosion, high temperatures and have good mechanical properties.

– Electrical applications: Tantalum pipes can also be used in electrical applications due to their excellent corrosion resistance and high melting point.

-Aerospace and Defense: Tantalum tubing is used in aerospace and defense applications due to its high strength, hardness and low weight. They are also highly resistant to corrosion and extreme temperatures, making them suitable for these demanding environments.

-Nuclear power: Tantalum pipes are used in nuclear power plants because of their excellent corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance, and radiation resistance.

-Medical Applications: Tantalum tubing is used in medical applications such as surgical instruments and dental equipment due to its biocompatibility and corrosion resistance.
