Non-alloyed tungsten bars are produced from pure tungsten powder, and the purity is usually very high, W≥99.95%. Pure tungsten can be processed by forging, drawing, extruding, and rolling. Pure tungsten blank is made from tungsten powder as raw material using a powder metallurgy process. It is the raw material for processing tungsten bars.

The process flow of tungsten rectangular bar or square bar:

  1. Forge the blank to the appropriate size, draw it to the closed size, and perform annealing and molding.
  2. Remove oxides and polish the surface. Grinding the surface is more difficult and requires face-to-face grinding, usually end-face grinding. If the side is too small, only grinding is required. Another way to produce tungsten rods is to cut tungsten plates. In the next article, we will discuss the process of rolling tungsten products. The method depends on the specific size of the tungsten rod. If it’s thin and narrow, it’s a tungsten plate.

Tungsten bars can be used to make emitting cathodes, high-temperature forming rods, support wires, printer needles, various electrodes, stainless steel additives, quartz furnace heating elements, etc. Also engaged in firearms, rockets, satellites, aircraft, and ships.
